Siding in Brewster, NY

Westchester & Putnam Siding Service Serving Brewster

Siding repair and replacement for houses in the Village of Brewster, Putnam County’s most densely populated community. Village filings, tight lots and close neighbors are all part of the plan.

A Railroad Village, Built Close Together

Brewster grew around a train station. In 1848 Walter and James Brewster bought a farm here and gave land for a depot on the New York and Harlem Railroad, and Main Street was opened so stagecoaches from Danbury could reach the trains. Walter Brewster built the first new house in 1850. It’s now on the State and National Registers and owned by the Landmark Preservation Society of Southeast. The settlement was incorporated as the Village of Brewster in 1894.

The result is a compact village of narrow lots and houses only a few feet apart, the densest settlement in Putnam County. For a siding crew, that changes the job. Ladders and staging may sit near the property line, debris has to be caught before it reaches a neighbor’s yard, and the dumpster has to fit where the Village allows it.

How We Re-side a Village House

We talk with you about your neighbors before we start, and we work one wall at a time so the house is never left open to weather. Old siding comes off onto tarps, not into flower beds next door. Sheathing is repaired, a new water barrier is lapped from the bottom up, and every opening, porch roof and wall-to-roof joint gets flashed.

On side walls that face a neighbor’s house a few feet away, we install trim and corner details that we can reach and service from your side of the line. The photo shows one of our own projects in house wrap, before the finished siding went on. Our main siding page has the same house after the work was done.

Brewster Siding FAQs

Who handles permits for a house in the Village of Brewster?

The Village has its own part-time Building Department at Village Hall, 50 Main Street (845-279-3760). Homes in the surrounding Town of Southeast that are outside the village go to the Town’s Building Department instead. We check which one applies from your address.

When can I meet with the Village building inspector?

The Village posts appointment times on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Friday and Saturday appointments by request. Village office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the office is closed Fridays.

Will I need a dumpster permit on a village street?

The Village lists a dumpster permit among its building forms. On tight lots where the container has to go near the street, we take care of it before delivery.

What paperwork will you ask me to sign?

Village forms include an owner consent form, which lets us file for you. We fill it out and you just sign.

What warranty comes with siding?

One year on our workmanship, in writing, plus the siding manufacturer’s own product warranty.
