Tile Installation Questions
What waterproofing do you use in showers?
A bonded waterproofing membrane over the walls and a sloped shower pan, with sealed seams, niches and benches. Grout and tile alone are not waterproof.
Can large-format tile go on my floor?
Usually, but large tiles need a very flat, stiff floor. We check the subfloor and joists, and flatten or reinforce where needed to prevent cracked tile and lippage.
Porcelain or natural stone?
Porcelain is dense, durable and low-maintenance, and it comes in convincing marble and wood looks. Natural stone is one-of-a-kind but needs sealing and gentler cleaning. We help you choose for each room.
Do you repair cracked or loose tile?
Yes. See our tile repair page. Loose or hollow-sounding tile often points to a substrate or water problem, so we find the cause first.
