The Town’s wetland law sets a 150-foot minimum setback from controlled wetlands, ponds and streams, and any work inside a controlled area or that setback needs a permit from the Water Control Commission. The Commission usually meets the second Wednesday of the month at the Town House, with applications due at the Building Department 14 days before.

Pound Ridge Remodeling Questions
Does my Pound Ridge project need a wetlands permit?
If any work, including grading, driveways or a new structure, falls within a controlled wetland area or its 150-foot setback, the Town’s Water Control Commission must issue a permit first. We map the setback on the site plan early.
How far ahead do Water Control Commission applications have to be filed?
Applications are delivered to the Building Department 14 days before the meeting. The Commission usually meets the second Wednesday of each month at 8:00 PM at the Town House.
Will an addition affect my septic system?
It can. Expanding a home, especially adding bedrooms, may require Westchester County Health Department review of the septic system. We look at it during design so it doesn’t stall the permit.
