Same material, same look

Building permit only. We file with the Village and schedule inspections.

New look on the street side

ARB first: notarized application, drawings showing how the change fits the house, and an appearance at the monthly meeting.

Condo or townhome

The association decides. We provide a board-ready scope and insurance certificates.

Postwar Houses, Prewar Houses

On the hills above the village, many houses are capes and split-levels from the 1950s and 1960s, often sided in aluminum or early vinyl that has faded and cracked. Underneath we usually find fiberboard or plywood sheathing in fair shape and little or no house wrap. Closer to downtown, older houses have wood clapboard, sometimes under a later layer, and more rot at sills and porches.

Either way, the process is the same: remove the old siding, repair the sheathing, wrap and flash the walls, and install the new siding and trim. The green house in the photo is a real Guardian vinyl siding job; more before-and-after photos are on our siding page.

Before siding replacement: front of a modern two-story house with gray siding, house wrap around the window openings and wood double front doors

Small Lots, Close Neighbors

Mount Kisco lots near the village center are tight. Staging often means working a few feet from a neighbor’s house or driveway, so we talk with neighbors before we start, protect their property, and clean up daily. If tree limbs are in the way, the Village wants its tree application approved by the Village Naturalist before any cutting.

Mount Kisco Siding FAQs

Does a siding job in Mount Kisco go to the Architectural Review Board?

It can. The Village’s ARB considers alterations in relation to the character of nearby buildings, and for a single-family house it reviews changes to the street façade. Re-siding the front in a new material or color is the classic case. Matching what’s there usually keeps it to a building permit.

What does the ARB want?

A complete, notarized application with the owner’s authorization, two sets of drawings and a digital copy, submitted by the first Wednesday of the month for the meeting on the third Wednesday. For an alteration, the elevations should show how the change blends with the existing architecture. The applicant or an agent must appear at the meeting, and we attend with you or for you.

Who issues the permit?

The Village/Town of Mount Kisco Building Department at Village Hall, 104 Main Street. It wants the contractor’s insurance certificates naming the Village/Town and a copy of the Westchester County home improvement license.

Can you side a condo or townhouse?

On association buildings the exterior is usually common property, so the board decides. We give boards a written scope and estimate and coordinate access with owners.

What warranty comes with siding?

One year on our workmanship, in writing, plus the siding manufacturer’s own product warranty.
