A Finished Re-Side From Our Own Work

The photo is a Guardian job: green vinyl siding with white trim, entry stairs and railings. Under the visible finish there’s new house wrap lapped from the bottom up, flashing at every opening, and solid sheathing where soft boards were cut out.

That layer underneath is also where the 2025 New York State codes come in. The Town of Yorktown applies them to every application filed on or after December 31, 2025.

Yorktown Heights Siding FAQs

Does re-siding need a permit in Yorktown?

Chapter 15 of the Town of Yorktown Code requires a building permit for the alteration, improvement or removal of any portion of a building that must conform to the State codes. Simple repairs are exempt if they don’t touch structure, egress or building systems. A full re-side with new sheathing or a water barrier is usually permit work, and we confirm it with the Building Department.

Which code applies to a 2026 siding job?

The Building Department says applications filed on or after December 31, 2025 must comply with the 2025 New York State codes, including the 2025 Residential Code and Energy Code. We plan barrier, flashing and insulation details to those editions.

How do I apply?

The Town takes building permit applications and documents through its online application portal, where you can also track status. We prepare the submission and upload our license and insurance documents.

I got an email asking me to wire a permit fee. Is that real?

No. The Town warns that fraudulent emails have imitated staff, that fees are paid only by check to the Town of Yorktown, and that you will never be told to wire money. Neither will we.

What warranty comes with siding?

One year on our workmanship, in writing, plus the siding manufacturer’s own product warranty.
