Our Own Backyard
Mahopac Falls is part of the Town of Carmel, the same town as our office at 143 Lake Shore Drive West. The hamlet’s name comes from the falls on the stream that once powered the Red Mills, the 1756 grist mill near Route 6N that supplied flour to the Continental Army. Most homes here are single-family houses on generous lots, and many still have their first bathrooms.
That makes Mahopac Falls a common place for us to do tub-to-shower conversions, new primary baths and full gut remodels.

Showers Built to Last
The shower pictured is a Guardian remodel with white subway tile walls, a long recessed niche and a built-in bench. Behind the tile is what really counts: a continuous waterproof membrane, a properly sloped base and a drain set before any tile goes on.
We also replace old shutoff valves, add a ducted exhaust fan and run GFCI-protected circuits, all by licensed subcontractors.

Choosing a Vanity and Storage
Many hamlet bathrooms are short on storage. A wider vanity with drawers, a recessed medicine cabinet and a tall linen cabinet can make a big difference without moving walls. We’ll show you options in a range of budgets and lay them out so doors and drawers clear the toilet and the shower door.
Mahopac Falls Bathroom FAQs
Which Building Department handles Mahopac Falls?
The Town of Carmel’s, at 60 McAlpin Avenue in Mahopac. Mahopac Falls is a hamlet within the Town.
Will we need a Certificate of Occupancy after the remodel?
The Town of Carmel requires a CO on completion of work. Structures built before 1955 are an exception, and the Town offers a pre-date letter for those. We’ll tell you which applies.
When can the inspector come?
Town inspections are done Monday through Friday, 9:30 to 1, with two to three days’ notice. We schedule them and are there when the inspector arrives.
Can you turn our tub into a walk-in shower?
Yes. It’s one of our most common jobs. We remove the tub, set a new pan or a tiled base with a waterproof membrane, and finish with tile, a niche and a glass door.
What warranty does Guardian provide?
One year on our workmanship, in writing, plus manufacturers’ warranties on fixtures and tile.
