Whole-Home Remodeling in Rye, NY
Westchester Whole-Home Remodeling Service Serving Rye
Complete renovations of Rye homes, near the water or on inland streets, with City permits, BAR review and every trade run by one Guardian team.
Flood Maps, Review Boards and Big Renovations
Two things shape a whole-house project in Rye more than anywhere inland. First, parts of the city lie in FEMA flood zones along Long Island Sound, and a major renovation there can trigger flood-resistant construction requirements. Second, any change to how the house looks goes to the Board of Architectural Review.
We find out both answers before design is finished, so the plans you approve are ones the City will approve too.

Bathrooms Are Usually Part of It
The marble-look bathroom with a white double vanity and round mirrors in this photo is a Guardian remodel. In a whole-home project, baths are often where the plumbing work concentrates, and our licensed plumbing subcontractor handles it under our project manager.
Rye’s houses span many decades of construction, and each era brings its own wiring, plumbing and framing surprises once the walls are open.

Living Through a Rye Renovation
Most families do not want to move out for months. Where it is practical, we phase a Rye renovation so a kitchen or a bath stays usable while other rooms are under construction, seal off work areas from the rest of the house and agree in advance on when water or power will be shut off. If the scope makes staying impractical, we tell you that early.

Rye Whole-Home Remodeling FAQs
Where are permits filed in Rye?
With the City of Rye Building Department at City Hall, 1051 Boston Post Road (914-967-5400).
Will my renovation go to the Board of Architectural Review?
Work that affects the exterior appearance of the house is referred to the BAR, and the City Code sets a 31-day window for that referral. Small projects can be exempt. Interior-only work does not need BAR review.
My house is in a flood zone. Does that change a big renovation?
It can. The Building Department oversees construction in FEMA flood zones, and a large renovation of a house in a mapped flood area may have to meet flood-resistant construction rules. We check the flood map before design.
Is Rye a village?
No. Rye has been a city since 1942, and it runs its own Building Department and review boards.
