Kitchen Remodeling in Purchase, NY
Westchester Kitchen Remodeling Service Serving Purchase
Kitchens for larger Purchase homes, from full gut renovations to new layouts with big islands. Harrison permits, design review when needed and licensed trades. Remodeling since 1980.

Bigger Houses, Bigger Kitchen Decisions
Purchase was part of the land John Harrison bought in 1695, and a Quaker meeting house was built there in 1727. Today it’s known for SUNY Purchase, Manhattanville and large homes on wooded lots, under ZIP code 10577.
Kitchens in those houses tend to be large but broken up: a working kitchen, a separate breakfast room and a butler’s pantry. Most of the remodels we’re asked about combine two of those spaces into one, which means beams, relocated plumbing and new lighting.
What a Purchase Kitchen Usually Involves
- Removing or opening walls between kitchen, breakfast room and pantry
- Large islands with seating, prep sinks and storage
- Heavy stone countertops and full-height backsplashes
- Dedicated circuits for built-in refrigeration and professional ranges
- Coordinating with an outside architect or designer when you have one

Harrison Permits and Design Review
All of Harrison, including Purchase, is served by one Building Department. Interior kitchen work is handled there. Work that changes the outside of the house can go to the Architectural Board of Review, which meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month (914-670-3077). The Board’s approval comes first, and the building permit follows.
Harrison uses an online eTRAKiT system for contractors, so we can track permit status and keep you updated without trips to Heineman Place.

Purchase Kitchen Remodeling FAQs
Which office issues kitchen permits in Purchase?
Purchase is a hamlet of the Town/Village of Harrison, so permits come from the Harrison Building Department at 1 Heineman Place (914-670-3050). License and insurance documents are required for all permits.
Will a larger kitchen addition need design review?
If the project changes the exterior, such as a breakfast-room bump-out or new doors to a terrace, it usually goes to Harrison’s Architectural Board of Review, which meets the second Tuesday of the month. Board approval is not a building permit; the permit is issued separately.
Can you work with our architect or kitchen designer?
Yes. Many Purchase projects start with a design professional, and we build to their drawings. Where you don’t have one, we coordinate the drawings Harrison needs.
Do you install large appliance packages and stone counters?
Yes. Built-in refrigeration, ranges with heavy hoods and large stone tops all need planning for power, venting and support. Our licensed electrician and the fabricator are coordinated by a Guardian project manager.
What warranty do you give?
One year on Guardian’s workmanship, in writing, plus the manufacturers’ warranties on cabinets, counters and appliances.
