Westchester Home Remodeling Service Serving Purchase
Kitchens, primary suites, additions, roofing and whole-house renovations for Purchase homes in the Town/Village of Harrison. One Guardian project manager from design through Harrison’s approvals and inspections.
Estate Country in Southern Westchester
Purchase is the northern, more spacious part of Harrison. Instead of the close-set streets of downtown Harrison or West Harrison, it has winding roads, stone walls, horse farms turned into estates, and homes on lots zoned R-1 and R-2, one and two acres, with some much larger parcels. SUNY Purchase, Manhattanville and several corporate campuses share the landscape, and Rye Lake, part of the Kensico Reservoir system, lies along the northern edge.
Homes here are larger and more varied: early 20th-century estates, postwar colonials on an acre, and newer houses built since the 1980s. Renovations tend to be bigger, too, and they draw more review.

Managing a Large Renovation
Bigger houses mean longer supply chains, more trades and more decisions. We put the scope in writing, order long-lead items such as windows, cabinetry and specialty fixtures early, and keep a single schedule for the licensed, insured subcontractors who handle electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Changes are priced before they’re built.
Your Guardian project manager walks the job with you regularly and coordinates the Harrison inspections, so you’re not managing the contractors yourself.
Purchase Remodeling FAQs
Is Purchase its own municipality?
No. Purchase is a hamlet of the Town/Village of Harrison. Permits come from the Harrison Building Department at 1 Heineman Place, (914) 670-3050.
Will my renovation go to Harrison's Architectural Review Board?
Most residential construction that changes the exterior is referred to the ARB, and ARB approval doesn’t replace the building permit. Interior alterations to the main structure are generally in a category that isn’t referred.
Our property has steep areas and a pond. What applies?
Harrison regulates steep slopes under Chapter 199. Many steep-slope permits are handled by the Building Inspector, but very steep or excessively steep areas need Planning Board review with a public hearing. The Planning Board also issues wetland permits. Land disturbance of 500 square feet or more needs Town Engineer approval.
Do you work on large estate homes?
Yes. Much of Purchase is zoned for one- and two-acre lots, and we handle kitchens, primary suites, additions, roofing and whole-house renovations on larger homes, as well as new construction.
When does Harrison's Architectural Review Board meet?
On the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building. The applicant or a representative has to attend, and the submission deadline is the Monday of the week before. ARB approval does not replace the building permit.
Do you do roofing and siding in Purchase?
Yes. See our roofing in Purchase and siding in Purchase pages for how Harrison’s review applies to exterior work.
