Whole-Home Remodeling in Somers, NY
Westchester Whole-Home Remodeling Service Serving Somers
One coordinated renovation for Somers homes, from colonials on wooded lots to houses near the reservoirs, with Town permits, septic care and licensed trades.
Somers Homes and Their Lots
Somers is a big town with a lot of open land, and many houses sit on large, wooded lots served by wells and septic systems. That shapes a whole-house renovation. Dumpsters, deliveries and any outdoor work have to stay off the septic area, and plumbing changes are planned with the system’s capacity in mind.
The Town’s government works out of the historic Elephant Hotel, the Town House at 335 Route 202, built by Hachaliah Bailey, who brought one of the first elephants to America. The Building Department is next door at 337.
A Kitchen at the Center
This kitchen, with light grey shaker cabinets, a quartz island and a marble-look backsplash under a white range hood, is a Guardian remodel. In a whole-home project, the kitchen often comes first in design and sets the color and material choices for the rest of the house.
When the kitchen opens to the family room or dining room, an architect from the several we work with draws the structural changes for the Town.

Somers Whole-Home Remodeling FAQs
How do I get a building permit in Somers?
The Somers Building Department, at 337 Route 202 (the brick building next to the Town House), takes complete applications by appointment. Call 914-277-3539 to book one and to confirm which documents the application needs.
Are plumbing permits separate?
Yes. Plumbing permits are filed on their own application, and the Department asks that they be dropped off before 2 p.m. on weekdays so they can be checked at the counter. Our licensed plumber prepares them.
My house is on a septic system. Does that change the renovation?
It can. The Town has a Protection of Sewage Treatment System Area form, so work that could affect the septic area, such as a new addition, driveway or heavy equipment access, is planned to keep clear of it. Adding bedrooms can also trigger a septic capacity review.
Will the Architectural Review Board see my project?
If the outside of the house changes in a way that needs review, the ARB meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Town House meeting room. Interior-only work does not go to the ARB.
