General Contractor in Hawthorne, NY
Westchester General Contracting Service Serving Hawthorne
Kitchens, baths, additions and exterior updates in Hawthorne and the rest of Mount Pleasant, filed online and managed by one Guardian team.
Mount Pleasant Went Paperless
From July 1, 2026, the Town of Mount Pleasant takes building applications online only. That makes filing faster when every document is ready and slower when something is missing, because an incomplete upload goes back to the applicant.
We put together the drawings, insurance certificates, license copies and energy code paperwork before we upload, so the review starts on time. The shower in this photo, with white subway tile, a long niche and a built-in bench, is a Guardian bath.

A Station Hamlet
Hawthorne grew around its train station on the Harlem line. In the 1890s the Smadbeck family subdivided land here into house lots, and today the Town’s Hawthorne Hamlet zoning district covers about 45 acres along Elwood Avenue. The houses around it are mostly modest capes, colonials and split-levels, many with original kitchens and baths.
Those houses suit practical renovations: opening a kitchen, adding a bath, finishing space, or replacing a roof and siding.

Hawthorne General Contractor FAQs
Who issues permits for Hawthorne homes?
Hawthorne is a hamlet in the Town of Mount Pleasant, so the Town Building Department at One Town Hall Plaza in Valhalla handles permits (914-742-2305).
Can I still submit paper plans?
Since July 1, 2026 the Town has been paperless, and applications go through its online portal. We prepare and upload the files.
What is needed to close out a permit?
Before a certificate of occupancy or completion, the Town asks for a notarized Affidavit of Final Cost and, where electrical work was done, the electrical certificate. We gather both.
Which codes apply?
The Town has applied the 2025 New York State codes to new applications since January 1, 2026, including energy code documentation.
Who inspects the plumbing?
In Mount Pleasant the Town Building Department does plumbing inspections itself. Our licensed plumbing subcontractor files the plumbing work, and our project manager books the rough and final inspections so the walls are not closed before the inspector has seen them.
How long does a typical Hawthorne kitchen take?
It depends on the scope and on how quickly the Town reviews the online application. We give you a written schedule with the estimate and update it if anything changes once the walls are open.
