Westchester Home Remodeling Service Serving Hartsdale

Kitchen and bath renovations for Hartsdale co-ops and condos, and full-scale remodeling for its houses, from Tudors and colonials to split-levels. Town of Greenburgh permits and co-op board packages handled.

Two Kinds of Hartsdale Projects

Hartsdale has a large stock of co-op and condo apartments near the train station and along its main avenues, plus single-family neighborhoods on hilly, often rocky streets. The planning is different for each.

Apartments: co-ops and condos

Board approval and an alteration agreement come first. Work hours, elevator use and debris removal follow building rules. Kitchens and baths are the core work, with plumbing risers and shared walls planned around carefully.

Houses: Tudors, colonials, splits

Town of Greenburgh permits, and on sloping lots possible steep-slope review. Typical projects include opening kitchens, finishing basements, adding bathrooms and building rear additions.

Apartment Kitchens and Baths, Done Right

In a co-op, the kitchen and bath are where most of the value is, and where most of the risk is. Plumbing ties into shared risers, a leak can reach the unit below, and boards want proof that the work will be done by insured, licensed trades.

We plan around those realities: shutoffs and riser work coordinated with the super, waterproofing membranes under every shower and tub, and scheduling that respects neighbors. Cabinets, tile and appliances are ordered before demolition, so the apartment is out of service for as short a time as possible.

Hartsdale Remodeling FAQs

Hartsdale isn't a village. Who issues permits?

Hartsdale is a hamlet in unincorporated Greenburgh, so the Town of Greenburgh Building Department on Hillside Avenue handles building permits, plan review and inspections.

We own a Hartsdale co-op. What do we need before starting?

Usually an alteration agreement approved by the co-op board and managing agent, contractor insurance certificates naming the building, and plans for anything beyond cosmetic work. A Town permit may also be required for plumbing, electrical or layout changes. We assemble that package for the board.

Does a steep backyard affect a deck or addition?

It can. In unincorporated Greenburgh, steep-slope and wetland permits are reviewed by the Planning Board, and that review comes before the building permit. We look at grades and site constraints during the first visit.

Can you work in an occupied apartment?

Yes. We set up dust protection, protect common hallways and elevators as the building requires, and work within the building’s allowed hours.
