Siding in Garrison, NY
Westchester & Putnam Siding Service Serving Garrison
Siding repair and replacement for Garrison homes across the river from West Point, from houses near Garrison’s Landing to homes on wooded Highlands acreage. Philipstown permits and NYStretch energy-code details handled.
Philipstown Paperwork, Checklist Style
Philipstown’s application guidelines are specific, so we treat them as a checklist:
- Two sets of plans where the scope requires them
- Workers’ compensation and liability certificates naming the Town of Philipstown
- Copies of the Putnam County license (ours is Putnam County HIC #52594)
- The owner’s signed authorization
- A portable toilet on site for the construction period
Applications go to the Code Enforcement Office at 238 Main Street, Cold Spring. Philipstown is also a NYStretch energy code community, so if walls are opened or insulation is upgraded during re-siding, we plan the assembly to meet the stretch code rather than just the base code.

Siding in the Highlands
Garrison is named for Isaac Garrison, who ran a ferry from the landing to West Point. Garrison Landing, between the Hudson and the railroad, has been on the National Register as a historic district since 1982. Away from the river, homes sit on wooded hillsides near places like Boscobel, the Federal-style mansion moved here from Montrose and restored, and Russel Wright’s Manitoga.
Wooded lots mean shade, damp walls and long driveways. We plan deliveries for steep or narrow approaches, protect stone walls and plantings, and pay extra attention to bottom courses and north walls. Cedar shingles, clapboard and board-and-batten suit many Garrison houses. The photo shows our crew on a Guardian custom home with board-and-batten and stone.
Your Garrison Contractor
Guardian is our family team of five brothers, working alongside their father, family-run since 1980. Licensed, insured subcontractors install the siding, and a Guardian project manager supervises them from tear-off to final inspection. See more on our main siding page and read our Google Reviews.
Garrison Siding FAQs
Who issues permits in Garrison?
Garrison is a hamlet of the Town of Philipstown. Permits come from the Philipstown Code Enforcement Office at 238 Main Street in Cold Spring (845-265-5202).
What does the Town want with an application?
Philipstown’s application guidelines ask for two sets of plans, workers’ comp and liability certificates naming the Town, copies of Putnam County licenses and the owner’s authorization. They also require a portable toilet on site during construction. We take care of all of it.
Why does the energy code come up on a siding job?
Philipstown has adopted the NYStretch energy code. If walls are opened or insulation is added during re-siding, the work has to meet that code. We plan the wall assembly with that in mind.
Can you match the cedar shingles on our house?
Yes. We match shingle size, exposure and coursing, and use the same species when it’s available. We’ll show you samples before ordering.
What warranty comes with siding?
One year on our workmanship, in writing, plus the siding manufacturer’s own product warranty.
