Kitchen Remodeling in Garrison, NY

Westchester & Putnam Kitchen Remodeling Service Serving Garrison

Kitchens for Garrison’s river estates, farmhouses and modern homes in the Highlands, built to Philipstown’s stretch energy code. Family-run since 1980.

Kitchens in the Hudson Highlands

Garrison takes its name from Isaac Garrison, who ran a ferry across the Hudson to West Point. The hamlet still has the Garrison Landing Historic District by the river, Boscobel’s restored mansion and Manitoga, Russel Wright’s woodland home. Its houses range from 19th-century estates to mid-century modern places tucked into the hillside.

A kitchen in a big old Garrison house was often a service room, far from where the family lived. A lot of our work here is moving the kitchen closer to the main rooms, or opening a back wing so the kitchen becomes the center of the house.

4. Build

Demolition through final inspection, run by one Guardian project manager.

Kitchen remodel with cream shaker cabinets, natural wood island and quartz countertop by Guardian Remodeling Corp

Stretch Code, Explained Simply

Philipstown has adopted NYStretch, a tougher energy code than the State minimum. For a kitchen, that matters when exterior walls are opened: the new insulation and air sealing have to meet the stretch standard, and so do any new exterior doors.

The kitchen pictured is a Guardian remodel with cream shaker cabinets, a natural wood island and quartz counters, a warm look that suits farmhouse and estate interiors alike.

Who Does the Work

Water and Wiring in Country Houses

Most Garrison homes run on private wells. When we replumb a kitchen, we look at water pressure and any treatment equipment so the new faucet, dishwasher and refrigerator line work as they should. In older houses we also check the electric panel early, because a modern kitchen with an induction range can need more capacity than the house was wired for.

Garrison Kitchen FAQs

Which office issues permits in Garrison?

Garrison is a hamlet of Philipstown, so permits come from the Philipstown Building Department at 2 Cedar Street in Cold Spring (845-265-5202).

Will the Health Department need to review our kitchen?

Usually not for a kitchen alone. But the Putnam County Health Department requires its approval before a building permit when a renovation changes the floor plan, since septic systems are sized by bedrooms. If the kitchen project also adds or removes a bedroom, we bring it in early.

How should we pay the deposit?

By check, credit card or Zelle, made out to Guardian. Philipstown’s own scam alert reminds residents that the Town never asks for wire transfers, and we don’t either.

Can you match old trim and millwork?

In most cases, yes. Our carpenters can copy casing and crown profiles so new cabinets and openings look like they belong to the house.

What warranty does Guardian offer?

One year on our workmanship, in writing, plus manufacturers’ warranties on cabinets, counters and appliances.
