General Contractor in Mamaroneck, NY
Westchester General Contracting Service Serving Mamaroneck
Renovations, kitchens, baths, roofing and siding in the Village and Town of Mamaroneck, coordinated by one Guardian project manager.
Two Building Departments, One Contractor
Mamaroneck is really two places for permit purposes. The Village, around the harbor and Mamaroneck Avenue, has its own building department, review boards and flood rules. The unincorporated Town has a separate department. Part of the Village of Larchmont lies in the Town as well.
We sort that out on the first visit, so the right forms go to the right office.

Projects Near the Water
Parts of the Village near the harbor and its rivers are mapped flood zones. If renovation work counts as a substantial improvement, the Village can require the house to meet flood elevation rules. That can change the scope, so we check the flood zone and project value first. Near the shoreline, the Harbor and Coastal Zone Management Commission may also review a project.
Inland, the work looks more like the rest of southern Westchester: older colonials and capes due for kitchens, baths and new roofs.

Mamaroneck General Contractor FAQs
Is my house in the Village or the Town of Mamaroneck?
It matters, because each has its own building department. The Village department is at 169 Mount Pleasant Avenue. The unincorporated Town’s is at the Town Center, 740 West Boston Post Road. Your tax bill or survey will show which applies.
Will the Board of Architectural Review see my project?
In the Village, the Board of Architectural Review meets on the first Tuesday and third Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m., and the Village’s building determination letter tells you which board, if any, must review the work. In the Town, the BAR reviews structures other than one- and two-family houses.
My house is in a flood zone. What changes?
In the Village, a project that counts as a substantial improvement can require bringing the house up to flood elevation standards. We look at the flood zone and the project value before design so there are no surprises.
What is the Harbor and Coastal Zone Management Commission?
It is one of the Village’s land-use boards. Projects near the harbor and shoreline may need its review in addition to a building permit.
