General Contractor in Southeast, NY
Westchester & Putnam General Contracting Service Serving Southeast
Renovations, additions and exterior work across the Town of Southeast, from the lakes to the reservoir roads, with permits, septic questions and subcontractors handled by one team.
Outside the Village Line
Many Southeast homeowners have a Brewster mailing address but live outside the Village. Those homes answer to the Town Building Department, and the Town has its own thresholds. Two of them shape a lot of projects: stamped plans once work costs more than $10,000, and no new bedroom without Health Department or Special Districts sign-off.
That bedroom rule matters on a septic lot. Before we price a finished lower level or an addition with a bedroom, we find out whether the system can take the extra load.

Reservoir Land With an Old Boundary
Southeast was part of the Oblong, the strip New York gained from Connecticut in 1731. Today the town is laced with New York City water supply land, including Bog Brook and the East Branch reservoirs, and the old Tilly Foster iron mine site sits within its borders.

Southeast General Contractor FAQs
Is the Town of Southeast the same as the Village of Brewster?
No. The village sits inside the town, but homes outside the village fall under the Town of Southeast Building Department, 1 Main Street, Brewster (845-279-2123). We confirm which office applies before we file.
When do I need stamped plans?
The Town asks for plans stamped by a licensed design professional when construction cost exceeds $10,000 or the work is significantly structural. If you need one, we can recommend several architects depending on the project.
Can I turn a room into a bedroom?
Not without a permit. The Town will not allow a room to be converted to a bedroom unless the County Health Department (for septic) or Special Districts (for sewer) approves it first.
Why does the town search old permit records?
Southeast offers municipal searches of its historical building records. Old open permits or unpermitted work can surface during a sale, so we check before a renovation starts.
