General Contractor in Patterson, NY

Westchester & Putnam General Contracting Service Serving Patterson

Renovations, roofing, siding, kitchens and baths for homes across the Town of Patterson, run by one contractor from start to finish.

A Rural Town With Varied Homes

Patterson stretches across eastern Putnam County, from older farmhouses on country roads to the lake cottages of Putnam Lake, many of them enlarged over the years. Many properties are bordered by old stone walls, and many homes use wells and septic systems.

That variety means each project starts with a careful look at the house. A cottage that was expanded in stages may have framing of different ages under one roof, and a farmhouse may need structural repairs before a new kitchen goes in. The photo shows a Guardian roofing crew at work.

Lake Cottages and Septic Capacity

Patterson’s local historians note that the Putnam Lake cottages were first served by outhouses and later fitted with small septic systems. That history still matters. When a cottage gains a bathroom or a bedroom, the septic system has to support it, and Putnam County Health Department approval may be needed before the Town issues a permit for added living space.

We raise this on the first visit, so a bathroom or bedroom plan does not stall halfway through the permit process. If a project would push past what the system can handle, we tell you before design, not after.

Patterson General Contractor FAQs

Where do I get a building permit in Patterson?

At the Building Department in Town Hall, 1142 Route 311 (845-878-6319). Inspectors are seen by appointment.

Will a renovation change my tax assessment?

The Town notes that building permits may prompt a review by the Assessor. Improvements that add value, like a finished space or an addition, can affect your assessment.

How far ahead are inspections booked?

Patterson asks for 24 hours’ notice for inspections, and plan review can take several weeks. We build that into the schedule.

Is there anything special about working on older Patterson properties?

The Town asks property owners to leave its historic stone walls undisturbed. We plan driveways, dumpsters and material staging around them.
