General Contractor in Purchase, NY
Westchester General Contracting Service Serving Purchase
Additions, kitchens, baths and exterior renovations on Purchase properties, with Harrison permits and Architectural Review Board filings run by a Guardian project manager.
Two Approvals Before the First Nail
Homeowners in Purchase often expect one permit. In practice most residential construction here goes through two separate Harrison reviews: the Architectural Review Board looks at how the house will look, and the Building Department checks that it will be built to code. One approval does not replace the other.
We prepare both packages together. The ARB gets its two extra 11×17 sets and photos of the neighboring houses; the Building Department gets the permit drawings. Coordinating them up front keeps the board’s comments from forcing a redraw after the permit plans are done.

Old Quaker Country, Large Lots
Purchase takes its name from the 1695 land purchase by John Harrison, and the Quaker meeting house on Purchase Street dates to 1727. Today the hamlet is also home to SUNY Purchase and Manhattanville, but most of its residential streets are wide, wooded lots with long setbacks.
The black vertical siding in this photo is a Guardian exterior project. On larger Purchase homes, a facade change like this is exactly the kind of work the ARB wants to review before we start.
How a Purchase Project Moves
1. Site visit
We walk the house and lot, note access and staging, and talk through what you want built.
2. Written scope and estimate
Line items for each trade, so you can see what the general contractor covers.
3. ARB and permit filings
We prepare the ARB set and the permit set and track both through Harrison.
4. Construction
A Guardian project manager runs the crew and the licensed electrical and plumbing subcontractors.
5. Inspections and closeout
We meet the inspectors, finish the punch list and hand over the paperwork.
About Guardian
Guardian Remodeling Corp has been in construction since 1980. The company is five brothers and our father, who built his career on New York City buildings and ground-up work. We hold Westchester County HIC #WC-38383-H24, carry insurance and back our work with a one-year written workmanship warranty. When a design needs an architect, we have several we can recommend depending on the project. We accept check, credit card, Zelle or cash, and financing through HFS Financial is an option.
Purchase General Contractor FAQs
Purchase is a hamlet. Which office issues my permit?
Purchase is part of the Town/Village of Harrison, so permits come from the Harrison Building Department at 1 Heineman Place (914-670-3050). We file there and schedule the inspections.
Does my project need the Architectural Review Board?
Harrison sends most residential construction to its ARB, which meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. ARB approval is a separate step from the building permit, so we plan for both.
What extra paperwork does the ARB want?
The Harrison ARB checklist asks for two extra 11×17 plan sets and photographs of the houses on either side of yours, so the board can see how the new work fits the street.
Can you work on a large estate property?
Yes. Bigger lots mostly change logistics: driveway length, where materials are staged and how far trades carry them. We sort that out before the first delivery.
